To screen and triage contacts received via the Front Door (formerly MASH), assess levels of risk and need, and determine proportionate responses in line with safeguarding thresholds and statutory guidance. To undertake Family Help assessments and deliver outcome-focused, evidence-based interventions that strengthen family resilience, reduce risk, and prevent escalation to statutory social care involvement. To hold and manage Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) cases, working in partnership with families and multi-agency professionals to safeguard children and promote sustained change. To apply trauma-informed, strengths-based, and relationship-focused practice in all work with children and families. _____________ A. Job Description _____________ 1. Resident & Community Contribution ? Screen and triage new contacts received through the Front Door, ensuring timely and proportionate responses that prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children. ? Enable children, young people, and families to actively participate in assessments, planning, and decision-making, ensuring their voice informs intervention and service delivery. ? Apply strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches to empower families, build resilience, and support sustainable change. ? Promote early intervention and prevention by identifying emerging needs and mobilising support at the lowest appropriate level. _____________ 2. People & Professional Practice ? Work collaboratively with social workers, keyworkers, and multi-disciplinary partners to deliver coordinated and effective support to families. ? Maintain professional curiosity, reflective practice, and accountability in managing complex family situations. ? Engage constructively in supervision, training, and continuous professional development to maintain high standards of practice. ? Contribute positively to a learning culture that values diversity, inclusion, and anti-discriminatory practice. _____________ 3. Operational Service Delivery ? Undertake Family Help assessments and develop clear, outcome-focused plans that address identified risks and needs. ? Hold and manage a caseload of families experiencing complex challenges, including behavioural difficulties, mental health concerns, substance misuse, disengagement, and housing instability. ? Manage Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) cases, ensuring statutory requirements, timescales, and safeguarding procedures are met. ? Deliver targeted, evidence-based interventions to reduce risk and prevent escalation to higher levels of statutory intervention. ? Chair Family Help meetings and contribute to multi-agency case conferences, statutory reviews, and court processes where required. _____________ 4. Partnership & Multi-Agency Working ? Work collaboratively with partner agencies including health, education, housing, police, probation, and voluntary and community organisations to coordinate effective support. ? Broker services and interventions that meet identified needs and improve outcomes for children and families. ? Share information appropriately and lawfully to safeguard children and support effective decision-making. _____________ 5. Recording, Quality & Compliance ? Maintain accurate, timely, and analytical case records in line with organisational policies, quality standards, and legal requirements. ? Ensure assessments, plans, and reports clearly evidence analysis, risk management, and impact. ? Contribute to quality assurance processes and continuous improvement within the service. _____________ 6. Practical Family Support ? Provide families with practical guidance and coaching, including routines, budgeting, parenting strategies, and behaviour management. ? Use motivational and coaching techniques to promote engagement, confidence, and sustainable change. ? Support families to access universal and targeted community resources where appropriate. _____________ 7. Continuous Improvement ? Contribute to service development initiatives and practice improvement activities. ? Engage in learning from audits, reviews, and feedback to enhance service delivery and outcomes. ? Maintain awareness of current legislation, research, and best practice relevant to safeguarding and family support. _____________ 8. Additional Responsibilities ? Demonstrate adaptability and resilience when managing complex and high-risk situations. ? Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role as directed by the line manager. ?
